DARA SINGH BIOGRAPHY
He was a wrestler and Indian film actor. He was born in a Jat Sikh family of Punjabi background.
His full name is Dara Singh Randhawa. He was a wrestler before he started acting in Hindi films in 1962.
He was appointed member of the Rajya Sabha by Bhartiya Janata Party during August 2003 - August 2009.
He was encouraged in the fight because of his massive physique. He worked on his farm as a kid.
He was encouraged to study Pehlwani, an Indian style of wrestling in the stands to fight drafts sand called akhara. Dara Singh was a favorite in the fight tournaments in India.
In addition to this, he wrestled on invitation of kings of Indian princely states and wrestled frequently in andmelas Haats.
He competed successfully against some of the biggest names in wrestling history and professional wrestlers in the United States.
Dara went to Singapore in 1947 and became the champion of Malaysia by defeating Tarlok Singh in Kuala Lumpur. He turned almost all countries in the Far East as a professional wrestler. Dara Singh returned to India in 1952 and became the champion of India in 1954.
He turned all the Commonwealth countries and defeated Oriental Champion King Kong, George Gordienko [from canada], John Desilva [from New Zealand] and many others. He became the champion of the Commonwealth in 1959.
Dara Singh has more than 500 professional fights under his belt is necessary, all undefeated. Most former prime ministers visited his Indian fights, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Morarji Desai, Chandrashekhar, Rajiv Gandhi. President of India Giani Zail Singh also visited his fights. His series of fights with Lou Thesz, King Kong and others are still cherished today.

FIGHTING OF DARASING
In what was one of the most spectacular battles in the ring, Dara Singh (130 kg) raised almost 200 kg King Kong of Australia on his head and made him turn around dramatically.
It was King Kong screaming in the referee, reminding him that it was not in the rules. When the referee stepped in, Dara Singh threw the Australian out of the ring and he fell a few meters from the audience.
His battles with Master Kong attracted massive audience was overwhelmed by the show of strength and skills of Dara Singh.
Apart from Dara Singh and King Kong, Flash Gordon was the third wrestler who led the group in 1950. Legend has it that if Dara Singh devour chapatis, Master Kong used to swallow chickens by the dozen.
Dara Singh was involved in about 500 professional fights, unbeaten in all competition against some of the biggest names like George Gordienko of Canada and John Desilva of New Zealand, among others. He won the title of "Rustam-E-Punjab 'and' Rustam-e-Hind" for his prowess in battle.

DARA SINGH STUDIO
Singh was also the owner of Dara Studio in Mohali, District Mohali, Punjab. Dara Film Studio was founded in 1978. The studio is operational from 1980 as film studio.
POLITICS
Dara became the first athlete to be named in the Rajya Sabha - the upper house of the Parliament of India. He held this position between 2003 and 2009. He was also president of the Jat Mahasabha.
DEATH
He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, July 7, 2012 Following a cardiac arrest. He was released from the hospital on July 11 in deference to the wishes of his family. He died July 12, 2012 at his home in Mumbai.He was cremated in Juhu
